Dog Walker / Pet Sitter


 

Since 2006, the Pet Patrol has been an award-winning dog walking and pet-sitting service. The Pet Patrol is licensed, bonded, and insured. We have strongly emphasized providing all employees with a safe working environment. Our staff undergoes an onboarding process that prepares them to work with new animals. We assign primary walkers to our clients. We only offer private dog walks, no group walks. Pet Patrol gives you a fun opportunity to work hands-on with animals while giving you skill sets to build a professional animal-focused career.

We service Orland Park, Tinley Park, Palos Park, Palos Heights, and nearby communities.

The position:

  • Professional dog walker with the ability to also care for cats
  • Dog walking is mainly scheduled MON-FRI 10am to 4pm, but pet sitting (cat and dog care) can be scheduled anytime, primarily evenings/weekends.
  • We encourage anyone with a passion for animals to apply! You can be available for daytime work or evening/weekend work.
  • The position is designed for part-time; we appreciate candidates with availability and flexibility but understand you may have other professional/personal commitments.

Compensation:

$12 - $20+ / hour

  • $700 - $1000 / month
  • Client Gratuity
  • All pet supplies provided
  • Travel and cell phone reimbursements of $20 to $50 per month, depending on the services performed.

Working as an employee, you are paid per visit. $12 per 30-minute weekday visit, $14 per 30-minute weeknight visit, and $15 per holiday visit.

Employees are eligible for reviews and compensation increases at a later date.

The responsibilities:

  • Create a safe and positive walking environment for our client's dogs.
  • Follow the client-provided care instructions, including training preferences.
  • Provide detailed and attentive care for our client's cats.
  • Give our clients first-class customer service with a personal touch.
  • Communicate with staff via phone/text and photographs.
  • Contribute to the team effort by working as a team player.
  • Practice time management to ensure on-time arrivals for all assigned visits.
  • Travel from client to client in the Southwest Suburbs using your vehicle.

The ideal candidate:

  • An honest, patient, and enthusiastic candidate who can provide our client's dogs and cats with the highest quality visits possible.
  • The candidate should have a strong understanding of safety and time management.
  • Previous professional or volunteer experience with animals is preferred, but a positive attitude and a desire to learn are just as important.
  • The candidate should enjoy an active work environment, walking independently, working outdoors regardless of weather conditions.
  • Special consideration for candidates with evening, weekend, and holiday availability.
