We are seeking a Material Handler to join our team in Canoga Park, CA (Los Angeles area). Union. 1st Shift.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):
100% - Operate various types of power trucks; lift trucks, trackless trains and field tractor to transport materials and equipment throughout the plant.

Determine the proper method of loading, securing, moving, and/or unloading material and equipment by reading and interpreting written instructions and work orders or by following verbal instructions.

Operate lift trucks; use hand and power tools, hoists, slings, dollies, pallet movers and rigging equipment to load, lift, position, unload or move material and equipment. Improvise special attaching devices and couplings to secure load as required.

Move and position all types, size and weight of machinery, machine tools, engines, product assemblies, jigs, fixtures and tooling in areas that may include conditions of limited maneuvering, difficult positioning and loading requirements or utilization of critical storage space.

Operate power trucks, trackless trains and field tractors to deliver and pick up supplies and materials according to specified routing sequences or along established routes.

Collect, recognize, segregate, sort, classify, bale, store and/or depose of scrapped and salvageable materials, parts, assemblies, equipment and tooling.

Use power driven sweepers to clean aisles, areas or thoroughfares on plant property. Perform manual tasks involved in maintenance work and provide assistance to higher-level maintenance personnel

Record delivery or other such data and statistics manually, using a scanner or with the aid of a computer or computer-based system.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Prior forklift experience required.

Requires U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency or other status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
Pay range for this position:: 25.31 - 40.00 per hour Note about pay range:: Pay range for this job level is a general guideline only for California and/or Washington State and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
