In this role, you’ll report directly to the VP of People and play a pivotal part in how we run HR operations at Planhat. This is a great opportunity to join an experienced and global team in an expansive phase.
We are increasing our presence in the greater Los Angeles, CA area. This person will work closely with our CEO and legal counsel based in LA, in addition to the globally distributed People team. Planhat is a nodal company, meaning we have a remote set-up with office hubs. We expect this person to be part of our growing LA office, working both remotely and from the office.
Responsibilities
Anticipate needs, improve the current state, and build out HR practices and policies to ensure efficiency and compliance in the US across multiple states including California.
Handle administrative tasks related to the US team e.g. general onboarding, salary reviews, statuary filings, exit interviews, and promotions including keeping required records (HRIS, mandatory training, etc.) and up-to-date audits for accuracy and compliance.
Handle ad-hoc HR matters related to our US team and support managers and employees when needed e.g. related to leaves, terminations, or health.
Develop and administer benefits for the US team. Review and ensure equal pay.
Run payroll on a biweekly basis in collaboration with Finance.
Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to answer questions from new hires, and ensure smooth first-day onboarding experiences.
Perform ad-hoc projects as needed.

Skills & Requirements:
Who we need
Bachelor’s degree in HR or similar
Deep understanding of US employment law and regulation across multiple states, especially California.
Located in the Greater Los Angeles area with the ability to go to the Santa Monica office on a weekly basis.
5+ years experience in HR, ideally from a fast-growing company with a global focus.
Experience running payroll
Be an expert on competitive benefits and how we can provide those to our US-based employees.
Tech-savvy with an entrepreneurial and curious mindset—if you constantly think “There must be a better way of doing this?” and are able to find a solution, you’ll probably like it here.
Ability to cooperate with multiple stakeholders, and adapt communication to the receiver.
